Three million years ago, our ancestors were all male, as always evidenced by the illustrations ScienceDaily and other media choose to accompany their pieces on prehistorical humans, such as "Three million years ago, our ancestors were vegetarian" (link at bottom).

In Gatherer/Hunter societies, women do most of the gathering, providing the bulk of the sustenance that keeps those societies alive. Yet women do not appear in illustrations as members of those societies. The reason for this constant omission is worthy of some reflection.
